Experienced pilots do not hover motionless while acquiring locks; static targets get obliterated by anti-air artillery. Surviving intense combat waves requires slingshot locking.
Begin by boosting straight past a squadron of hostile fighters using forward thrusters. Just as your model passes their flight path, pull a sharp 180-degree yaw rotation while cutting main thrusters and hitting flight dampening. The inertia carries your suit backward along your original trajectory while your front face looks backward at your pursuers.
Because your suit faces the chasing hostiles, your HUD locks on instantly while they fly in a predictable, straight line. Paint all trailing targets with micro-missiles, release the payload, and reignite forward thrusters to break away. This defensive sweep eliminates incoming threats before their own weapon systems establish a target solution.
