Hernan’s accumulation of capital began well before she ever walked through the glass doors of The Oppenheim Group. Raised in Scituate, Massachusetts, she learned the mechanics of family business operations through her family's seafood processing company, Yankee Trader Seafood. Watching wholesale supply chains and food production firsthand provided her with foundational operational knowledge that later shaped her food brand.
Her earliest personal capital, however, came from the equity markets. Encouraged by her father and personal research, Hernan began allocating earnings from teen modeling gigs into stocks and index funds in her mid-teens. By the time she relocated to Los Angeles at age 17, those investment gains provided enough liquidity to bypass conventional entry-level financing struggles. Rather than burning through cash to sustain a West Coast modeling career, she used modeling paychecks from runway and print campaigns to fund an active retail trading portfolio, eventually branching into private equity placements and angel investing.
