Words rarely go viral across modern platforms without visual shorthand. The turning point that propelled "chud" from specialized political subreddits to universal web awareness was the emergence of the "chudjak." A crude variation of the ubiquitous Wojak comic face, the chudjak caricature featured a square-jawed, balding, bespectacled man with stubble and a scowl, frequently paired with the catchphrase, "Millions must die."
Imageboard communities on 4chan and later Twitter weaponized the illustration to mock hyper-reactionary doom-posters. The illustration gave the word a concrete identity. Whenever someone offered an excessively bitter, regressive, or catastrophizing opinion online, users replied with the chudjak image. The graphic turned an abstract insult into a visual punchline, stripping away whatever edge the political targets tried to project and framing them as hopelessly cartoonish.
